Aerial Yoga

Why Aerial Yoga?

Aerial yoga offers more than just peace and relaxation. It helps to build strength through the balance it takes to stay in control in the silks. Being suspended in the air requires a stable core as you change positions in a very different way to a mat yoga class. In addition for the opportunity to learn something new, and fun, aerial yoga makes more advanced yoga poses accessible to beginner yogis by the support of the sling which can boost confidence in the practice and provide a sense of accomplishment. Hanging upside down provides much needed spinal decompression and traction of your joints, that lubricates, hydrates, and nourishes the intervertebral discs of your spine. This is especially helpful following compressive exercises like squats and deadlifts in the gym, sitting at your desk all day, after a day at the ski hill, or after hiking/biking all day. It helps to aid sleep, especially if you practice in the evening, and improves circulation.
